Gdrive On Its Way - An Online Data Storage Site From Google

News about Gdrive is not new.Its around for quite a long time now.But the recent word on Gdrive is that Google is preparing a service that would enable users to store data from their personal hard drives on its computers.
Users would be able to house files they would normally store on personal computers - such as word-processing documents, digital music, video clips and images -- on Google's computers, the Journal said, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The service could let users access their files through the Internet from different computers and mobile devices when they sign on using a password.

The service could be released as soon as a few months from now.

Google also plans to provide some free storage, with additional storage allotments avaiable for a fee. Planned pricing isn't known yet.

I don't think that Google will take long to release Gdrive.

    Microsoft to acquire Musiwave

The acquisition would bring together Musiwave's relationships with music labels, device makers, and mobile operators and Microsoft's Connected Entertainment technologies and services
In a bid to deliver mobile entertainment to consumers, Microsoft is planning to acquire 'Musiwave', a leading provider of mobile music entertainment services to operators and media companies.
The acquisition would bring together Musiwave's relationships with music labels, device makers, and mobile operators and Microsoft's Connected Entertainment technologies and services, including Windows Mobile, Zune, MSN, and Windows Live.
'Musiwave' offers software that allows mobile operators to deliver self-branded music applications to their subscribers, including full length song-over-the-air downloads, ring tones, ring-back tones, and customized play lists.
Microsoft believes that bringing 'Musiwave' on board will provide them an opportunity to explore new areas in the mobile space that were previously untapped, as well as showcase the power of software plus services.
This becomes even more important considering the pace at which the mobile music device market is growing today. According to technology research firm Ovum, by 2010, nearly 1,106 million mobile music phones will be shipped all over the world.
At present, Microsoft's technology runs on a variety of mobile platforms, and is featured on more than 140 mobile phones made by nearly 50 handset-makers.

"The Simpsons Game" Hits the stands

"The Simpsons Game" Hits the stands

    Hi everyone,

A video game that parodies the video game industry -- based on a hit TV show that makes use of pop culture to make fun of pop culture! That's Electronic Arts' latest iteration, "The Simpsons Game" for you
The game finally hit the stands earlier this week, and is already winning huge applause for precisely nailing the humour and irreverent wit that is the trademark of 'The Simpsons' show.
"The Simpsons Game" is really that -- the Simpsons are living inside of a video game.

You find Bart chasing a giant ape through a video game factory. The same Bart changes himself into a 'Bartman' a la 'Batman'. Lisa can move objects with her 'Hand of Buddha'. At the same time, she manages to destroy an entire logging camp.

So there you have one of the very few games that manages to capture the very essence -- soul -- spirit of its franchise.

EA sources said one of the big challenges was to make the levels look and feel like TV episodes. The writers of the original TV show came up with some 8,000 lines of dialogue for this purpose. The game developers also chipped-in. They had to create 3D characters while maintaining their cartoony appeal.

As "The Simpsons Game" adds on to the existing catalogue of over 20 'Simpsons' titles, it hopes to build on two more milestones for the franchise: one, the 400th episode of the TV show, and two, the long-awaited movie adaptation.

    Photobucket launcehes new tagging feature

    Hello everyone,
Photobucket, the free media-sharing Web site for uploading and sharing, and linking and finding photos, videos, and graphics has introduced a new tagging feature for photos.
Photobucket is a unit of News Corp's Fox Interactive Media. The new tagging feature allows users to label a particular person or object within the uploaded file. Moreover, users can also link the file to other external sites for further reference.

Basically, tagging allows the authour to organise media files with the help of multiple words that describe them the best.

Before the introduction of this feature, Photobucket allowed users to search by headlines. So many a times, users looking for a monument called 'Hawa Mahal in Jaipur' would not find it because the photo was titled 'Hawa Mahal in Pink City'.

Jaipur is also known as the Pink City but the search mechanism would not recognise it as the photo was not tagged with the word.

Tagging will now allow users to add both Jaipur and Pink City to the photo. Similarly, users will also be able to add a tag to a particular person or object in the photo.

Moreover, if users insert a photo from Photobucket into some other site, the tags and the attached links will automatically follow there.

Before you buy your HDTV !!!

Making the leap to HDTV is a no brainer: Go to the superstore, settle on a size, pick a model with the best picture for the price, and pay the cashier. Piece of cake, right? Wrong. For lots of reasons. Like, how do you know if you’re getting the highest definition picture possible? Or whether that hi-def DVD player you’re thinking of buying as well will connect properly to your new HDTV?

Knowing the essential ins and outs of HDTV before you leave the house means you won’t be sorry after you bring home your big new purchase. Here are the top 10 things to know before you buy:

    1. Genuine HDTV? A minimum of 1280 x 720 pixels — or little points of light — means you’re in genuine HDTV waters, while EDTVs (enhanced definition TV), offer lower resolutions. Make sure you go with true HDTV.

    2. Slim is in. The popular plasma type HDTVs tout generally “truer blacks” when it comes to contrast, while LCD, which costs more per inch, is typically brighter. Huge, boxy, rear projection sets are cheap, but the viewing angle and brightness can be spotty.

    3. My favorite movie. Test drive potential HDTV purchases with your own DVD. Colorful, fast-moving titles like "Pirates of the Caribbean" work best.

    4. How hi is up? Cable channels that offer HD generally broadcast in 720p, which is great quality, while some transmit in 1080i, which is even higher, though many debate on whether it’s actually better.

    5. Tune in or out? To grab free, local high-def network channels over the air with an antenna, make sure your HDTV has a built-in tuner.

    6. Good connections. While most HDTVs have component (red, green and blue) video inputs to connect to your cable, satellite tuner and DVD player, double check to make sure.

    7. Plugging in. Connect your gear together using the highest resolution connections possible. DVI/HDMI is highest, followed by component, S-Video, plain Video-in, and finally the lowliest of low-quality lows, old fashioned Coax.

    8. Wide or Not. You can choose between showing bars on either side of a non-widescreen program so that the image looks correct, or you can zoom it to fill the screen.

    9. Make Adjustments. HDTVs ship from the factory with the settings cranked up high in order to show off on the showroom floor.

    10. Surrounded by Sound. Now that you’re feasting your eyes on a super hi-def picture, don’t forget the sound. HDTV boasts Cineplex-like surround sound – providing you have a receiver and speaker system to hear it.

Google Introduces Android - A Platform for mobile devices

    Hello Everybody,
I know you must have heard the Word "Gphone".It came to us when Google broke the news that they will introduce a mobile device. Its coming but its not a mobile device. But something much bigger then that.It is called Android.Android is the first truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices. It includes an operating system, user-interface and applications -- all of the software to run a mobile phone, but without the proprietary obstacles that have hindered mobile innovation. We have developed Android in cooperation with the Open Handset Alliance, which consists of more than 30 technology and mobile leaders including Motorola, Qualcomm, HTC and T-Mobile. Through deep partnerships with carriers, device manufacturers, developers, and others, we hope to enable an open ecosystem for the mobile world by creating a standard, open mobile software platform. We think the result will ultimately be a better and faster pace for innovation that will give mobile customers unforeseen applications and capabilities.

Google Fight's Back -Introducing “Maka-Maka” In Response to Facebook

Google Fight's Back -Introducing “Maka-Maka” In Response to Facebook

As we all know that Google has lost the "Facebook bidding war" from Microsoft, but it is actually planning something really big.People in the Googleplex are using a code name “Maka-Maka” or perhaps “Makamaka”.
Its a part of Google's mission to bring all its applications under they the social layer.Maka-Maka is planned to be unveiled several in stages. Starting in early November. Google is planning to introduce a new set of APIs that developers can use to build applications for its social network Orkut, iGoogle.
As it is reported on Techcrunch Earliar:

"Google will announce a new set of APIs on November 5 that will allow developers to leverage Google’s social graph data. They’ll start with Orkut and iGoogle (Google’s personalized home page), and expand from there to include Gmail, Google Talk and other Google services over time.

On November 5 we’ll likely see third party iGoogle gadgets that leverage Orkut’s social graph information - the most basic implementation of what Google is planning. . . . Google is also considering allowing third parties to join the party at the other end of the platform - meaning other social networks (think Bebo, Friendster, Twitter, Digg and thousands of others) to give access to their user data to developers through those same APIs."

If you are a blogger and are wondering "What the hell happened to my blog's Page Rank"?Then i have a news for you.Google has started taking action against the website & blogs which were regarded as the link farms.
Yes you read it right linking to each others site was once a great think to do for the PR of the blog. But not anymore.Actually off late a sudden drop in the page ranks was seen across the web.Now the word has come from Google that it is penalizing websites, mostly blogs for putting up sponsored text links from their pages and posts. And this was made possible by the revolutionary Google Page Rank technology. For example a paid blogger posts a review or a blog post about their clients, for a small commission. And links came a number of blogs (By Cheating) - small and big, low PR and high PR, low traffic and high traffic. And Google PR was helping all that because it was designed to do so. So these tricky websites, which was supposed to have low PR because of negative factors, ended up with high PRs because of all the link manipulation that was going on. Thus, Google’s search was effectively manipulated with money, and thus the search results were also manipulated. The funny part is this that some of the sites are completely removed from the Google index.Form Example John Chow.

Hide a folder Without Using any Software in Xp

    Hello Everyone,
Today one friend of mine asked me how to hide a folder without using any software. So i thought i must share it with you guys as well. Here is a simple method that just deals with renaming the folder you want to hide.

    Locking

Select the folder to be hide. Rename it by adding .{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} to the end of the folder name.

    Eg : Imagine the folder is named pics. Now to hide it, you rename the folder to pics.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

Now your folder has been converted into a link to the Control Panel

    UnLocking

    1) Go to MSDOS [Start>Run>command]. Browse to the folder location. For example, if the locked folder was D:\Files\pics browse to D:\Files via DOS. Then rename the folder pics.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} to pics

The command will be something like this -
    ren pics.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} pics

Find Free Anonymous Web Proxies Using Google Search

Find Free Anonymous Web Proxies Using Google Search

A free anonymous web proxy site allows any web browser to access other third-party websites by channeling the browser’s connection through the proxy. The web proxy basically acts as a middleman between your web browser and the third-party website you are visiting. Why would you want to do this? There are two common reasons:
    • You’re connecting to a public network at a coffee shop or internet café and you want privacy while you browse the web. You don’t want the admin to know every site you visit.
    • You want to bypass a web content filter or perhaps a server-side ban on your IP address. Content filtering is common practice on college campus networks. This trick will usually bypass those restrictions.

There are subscription services and applications available such as TOR and paid VPN servers that do the same thing. However, this trick is free and easy to access from anywhere via Google. All you have to do is look through the search results returned by the queries below, find a proxy that works, and enter in the URL of the site you want to browse anonymously.

Autopatcher site forced to be closed by Microsoft

Microsoft sent a cease and desist to autopatcher.com. AutoPatcher was a program users could download to install all updates to windows instead of using Microsoft's Windows updates, this allowed a much faster patch process than offered by Microsoft.

AutoPatcher was an alternative to Microsoft's Windows Update developed by Antonis Kaladis and Jason Kelley, and a comprehensive collection of up-to-date security patches, addons and registry tweaks collated into a single package designed to update a Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows 2000 SP4, Windows Server 2003 SP1 or Windows Vista system from a local file, without the need to use Windows Update or connect to a network each time.

Distribution of the program was stopped on 29 August 2007, after more than four years of existence, as a result of several Cease and Desist orders being given to the team, Neowin and some download mirrors. Microsoft stated this was for "security reasons" but would not further clarify.

    AutoPatcher was designed for:

    • Users that format their hard disks or reinstall Windows frequently
    • System administrators seeking to quickly deploy updates to multiple Windows PCs.
    • Security conscious users seeking to avoid prior connection to the Internet with an insecure computer, in order to download the patches needed to secure their systems.
    • Users with a slow connection to the Internet could download AutoPatcher using a faster connection on another computer, and burn it to a CD or flash drive.
    • Users seeking flexibility in patch deployment (AutoPatcher includes for convenience, a number of common "add-ons", and allows for a configuration to be saved and redeployed on other machines)

Create A XP Boot Disk from System Files

As a hedge against being unable to start XP, you can create a boot disk specifically for Windows XP that may allow you to boot the operating system. This can occur when the active partition boot record or other required files become corrupted.

Using Windows XP, place a blank floppy in drive A and format the disk. Navigate to the root folder of the system (in most cases this will be C:\) and copy the following files to the floppy disk.

    Boot.ini
    NTLDR
    Ntdetect.com

If you can't see the files, click [Tools] and [Folder Options...] in the Menu Bar of Windows Explorer. Click the [View] tab and click the radio button next to [Show Hidden Files and Folders]. Remove the check mark next to [Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)] then click [Apply] and [OK]. The files should now be visible in Windows Explorer. If the files still cannot be copied, right click each file, click [Properties] and remove the checkmark from the Read-Only attributes. Reset whatever attributes were unchecked after the copy procedure is completed.

In addition to the files listed above, check the same directory for bootsect.dos and ntbootdd.sys files. If they are present on your system, copy them to the same floppy diskette.

The disk is used as any other boot disk, inserting it into the floppy drive (A:\) and initiating a cold boot. Make sure the BIOS is set so that the A:\ drive is first in the boot sequence.

    Google Introduces "Google Gadget Ads"

Yesterday Google launched Google Gadget Ads, customized "mini-sites" that run as ads on AdSense publisher websites. These ads are interactive, engaging, and will appeal to your users, simultaneously providing value to advertisers while getting visitors to stick around your site. The end result is that advertisers get more engaged users, users have a richer ad experience, and publishers opted in to image ads may see increased competition for their ad space.

What does a gadget ad look like?Below is the image of a gadget ad that is built to advertise AdSense program.

Gadget ads can take a number of shapes, sizes, and formats. If you're interested in seeing other cool gadget ads, you can check out at Google Gadget Ad Center. Also, rest assured that gadget ads must adhere to Google's editorial policies, so there won't be any distracting "punch the monkey" ads.

Ready to start displaying gadget ads on your website? While there's no guarantee that they'll appear on your site, you can increase the chances that they'll be shown by making sure you're opted in to image ads and using one of the image ad formats. Please note that the most popular sizes for gadget ads are the rectangle, leaderboard, and skyscraper formats.
